Mr. Flato in front of his store in the Zona Rosa district of Mexico City- were he reinvented himself (at 75!) and set up shop in later years.
Over-the-top, as if there was such a thing in Hollywood. Flamboyant, dramatic- its Hollywood remember- Mr. Flato was a contemporary of Seaman Schepps, Fulco Verdura, David Webb...sometimes overlooked however never by his peers. In our capacity as source providers of unusual gemstones we had business relations with Mr. Flato during the final years of his career when he opened up shop in the Zona Rosa in Mexico City.
